Wednesday, October 29, 2008 from 12:00 PM - 4:45 PM (GMT)
The landscape for innovation across the world is changing. New innovative places are emerging and transnational movements of people and ideas are putting into question the UK’s traditional links with the world. The UK’s capacity to innovate will increasingly depend on its ability to forge strategic links and partnerships with new innovation hotspots in Brazil, China, India, and small successful nations like Dubai, Estonia, and Singapore. But this can only be achieved if UK nations, regions and cities possess the ability to absorb external ideas and exploit them locally to turn them into new ideas and innovations. Please join us on Wednesday 29th October for a half-day summit that will explore the findings of two major reports. The first looks at new forms of globalisation, and the opportunities and challenges facing UK nations and regions. The second presents an Index of Absorptive Capacity that maps and measures absorptive capacity across the UK. Date: Wednesday, 29th October 2008 Time: 12.00pm – 4.45pm Lunch served from 12.00pm with presentations to start promptly at 1.00pm Venue: NESTA, 1 Plough Place, Holborn, London, EC4A1DE
